We can scrape out the grooves and clean around the tongue this will cost an extra £9.00 per m2, to save on costs, it is advisable and much more practical / cost effective to have the tongue removed.Įdge/End Cleaning ''Straight Edged Blocks'' It is advised that you ask about the condition of the T&G on the parquet flooring that you are interested in before placing an order. The blocks will still butt up together and act as a straight edge block Having a groove on one side and a solid straight edge on the other side does not make the slightest difference. If this is the case and the tongue has been removed, one side of the block would still have the original groove on it. However, if the T&G is clogged up with excess bitumen or grime, we would cut the tongue from the parquet block and then it would be sold as straight edged / square edged parquet flooring. We DO NOT usually clean the T&G of parquet blocks and this would be an extra chargeable service. Simply add £4.00 per M2 to receive your parquet with the tongue removed (STRAIGHT EDGED) this is to remove any grime that has built up on them over the years. We then sand over the blocks with a 40 grit, 60 grit and then 80 grit to leave you with a smooth surface finish. Simply add £10.00 per M2 to receive your parquet with the surface pre-sanded to remove the original layer of varnish with a 24 grit paper. Pre-Sanding/Surface Sanding Premium Service We use a rough/course 24 grit grade sandpaper to enable us to quickly remove the usual numerous layers of varnish/wax that have built up on the blocks over the years. This service does not finely sand the tops of the parquet. Although the original layer of varnish is removed, they will still require sanding once in they are fitted. Simply add £5.00 per M2 to receive your parquet with the tops pre-sanded to remove the original layer of varnish. Pre-Sanding/Surface Sanding Standard Service This service is suitable if you are fitting on a sub floor that will be subject to excessive movement, for example upstairs floors that are boarded over and require certain adhesives that can not be mixed with bitumen. This service will provide you with a clean underside as if the blocks have never seen bitumen. If you choose the bitumen removal service you will receive your parquet with up to 99% the bitumen REMOVED from the backs of them. Simply add £17.00 per m2 to the price of the flooring for bitumen removal. It is advised that you ask about the condition of the backs of the parquet flooring that you are interested in before placing your order. This should enable you to fit the blocks without further preparation to the underside.
WOOD BLOCKS FLOORING FREE
In cases where the bitumen is too soft to fully remove it: we will remove as much as possible leaving you with a fairly smooth back, free from large clumps. Although the bitumen is removed, there may still be a black stain on the back of the blocks from the original bitumen. If you choose the bitumen removal service you will receive your parquet with up to 80% the bitumen REMOVED from the backs of them. Simply add £7.50 per m2 to the price of the flooring for bitumen removal. Reclaimed parquet flooring block prices are shown for a parquet block in uncleaned condition.
